North Carolina

Seven Lakes is a private, community that got its start in 1972, when construction of our lakes, dams, and roads commenced. While
we feature a North and a South Side, both halves are part of a unified, centrally administered entity. The West Side is administered separately. To say the least, we are a close-knit community, very much like a large, loving family.
Here in the rolling Sandhills of Moore County in south-central North Carolina, this remarkably friendly and pleasant unincorporated community has emerged over the past 30 years. Residents are noted for their friendliness and their spirit of volunteerism. Today, the gated North, South & West Sides feature slightly more than 2,100 residences pleasantly nestled among our cherished longleaf pines, azaleas, and dogwoods. Some houses are on the lakes; some are on the golf courses, while others are sited along our picturesque, quiet roads.

Our population of over 3,000 residents features a broad demographic range that includes young families with infants, toddlers, adolescents, and teenagers, as well as an abundance of retirees. The mix is about fifty-fifty, and the cross-generational interaction, combined with active recreational and social programs and first-class amenities, contributes to a wholesome, safe environment for youngsters, as well as to a relaxing and secure atmosphere for our more seasoned neighbors.

Our community is built around clear, spring-fed lakes on the North Side, which offer all residents ample opportunity to enjoy swimming, boating, fishing, and picnicking.  Also available are an Olympic-size swimming pool and a kiddy pool, community tennis and basketball courts, a playground, stables with our 10 horses, a game room, Community Activity Center, and a Club House for community and private functions. On the South Side, the Seven Lakes Country Club offers superb golf and tennis for its members and their guests and a beautifully refurbished dining room and lounge serving excellent food and libations.

How are these excellent amenities, roads, dams, and so forth paid for? Each landowner is a member of the Landowners’ Association, which means we all share in the annual costs of maintaining our buildings and facilities, meeting the payroll, keeping the roads and dams in good repair, and generally doing the things that make our quality of life worthy of its wonderful reputation. Each homeowner, lot owner, and renter pays annual dues at an amount that is determined by a vote of all property owners.  For current dues click here.

A small, but adequate, commercial center is located just outside our gates. Nearby Southern Pines, Pinehurst, and Aberdeen offer a convenient variety of merchandise and services to satisfy most of our ordinary needs. Raleigh, Greensboro, Fayetteville, and Charlotte, among others, are within a one or two hour drive for more extensive shopping and other pursuits.

Our weather is wonderfully temperate, with an average summer high of around 90 degrees, and an average low in the winter of 35 degrees. Snow is rare, although there have been a couple of memorable snows in recent years, thanks to the vagaries of global weather change. Nonetheless, you can confidently expect to pursue many favorite outdoor activities all year round.
